Happy New Year, really?

"I Wish You a Happy New Year".
What is the real meaning of that?
Actually it is just another meaningless made up phrase that people keep repeating to each other year after year. Pretty much the equivalent of me wishing you a sunny and warm day, when it is obvious that my wish is not going to change the weather.
Instead, I rather wish that you think well and make the right decisions.
We have little control over what's going on in the world, but we have full control over our actions. It's actually a little bit up to us how 2017 is going to be.
