Some people and I were eligible for something, but incorrectly denied it. I pursued the issue knowing that I wouldn't benefit irregardless of how the issue was resolved, but the other people could possibly benefit. Simply the fact that me and others were eligible, but wrongly denied, is what prompted me to pursue the issue in acting out of principle.

What are some things that you've done in your life simply out of principle?

I'm not sure if I've done something like that purely out of the benefit of someone else, like looking out for future generations.

I know there was a couple of times where I've withstood a tyrannical manager in a cutthroat business. She had called me "weakling" and things like that because she didn't like how I wasn't aggressive towards others. There were a couple of times, she would zero in on me and in my business to try and make an example of me. I guess she thought that I was the weaker link, though my sales were above average. Idk.

When it came down to it, even with her threatening to fire me, I would not be cowed by her. I am not a dog or a cry baby. If I lost my job, it will be with my dignity intact and not with my tail between my legs.

After lots of trial n error, I don't think principle makes a good reason for doing anything unless there is another tangible benefit. Otherwise, it's just satisfying some socially constructed rule and not necessarily beneficial at all.

Vengeance, for example. Even if the other party is very deserving, I have chosen instead to ignore on more than a few occasions recently.

I'm not so sure I actually have set-in-stone principles; if I do, I've broken every one of them at some point and thus, they cease to be true principles. I try to do what I feel is right at any given point in time rather than categorizing umbrella-principles.
