Eat a gigantic breakfast so extra calories will be evenly distributed and won't add to a gut; ull have the day to burn off a large breakfast; large dinner would contribute to a belly

When I first started weight lifting, I took a supplement. The supplement was Amplified Mass XXX, strawberry flavor. Basically, the mixture makes a protein drink. Each drink contains 750 calories with 6 grams of fat, 124 grams of carbohydrate, and 50 grams of protein. I drank three a day totally in 2225 calories, 18 grams of fat, 372 grams of carbohydrate, and 150 grams of protein. On top of taking the three protein drinks, I had two vegetarian meals a day, drank only water, and ate snacks, like plain almonds throughout the day. My calorie intake was probably 4000+ calories. I'm 5'6, 150 lbs.

With just the three protein drinks, I knew for a fact that I received the daily recommended amount of good fat, carbohydrates, and protein to make sure my body was building muscle at maximum potential with my exercise regimen. I gained two pounds a week, which about a quarter to half a pound was of muscle. Basically, I force fed myself calories for about two months. I stopped doing it because it got too expensive. Just one of the biggest containers you can buy costs about fifty dollars. Buy one, get the second one half price. A container lasts six days if you drink three protein shakes a day. Indeed, expensive.

Whats your height and weight? If you don't exercise much you could probably gain twenty pounds in one to two months easy by drinking about two shakes a day. What you want to do is essentially force feed your body calories however possible. Realistically, if you want to feel full of energy, exercise thirty minutes, six days a week. It will also give you a high from the endorphines always being present in your system.

You are wayyy under weight. Even with twenty extra pounds, I think you would still be under weight. What do you normally eat and drink each day?

Haha, you have a super high metabolism.

Do you sleep more than the average person and still feel drained? Do you get random dizzy spells? Does your heart ever race, almost like you are having a panic attack? Do you ever randomly feel super hot? Do you ever get nauseous for no apparent reason, even to the point that you throw up?

I sleep less actually, but I do feel drained even if I get to sleep more than usual; I get the heart-racing sometimes and I dislike it a lot! ... sometimes I get dizzy when I get up too fast; I don't really have the heat or nausea issue though.

The reason I asked is because you might have hyperthyroidism. You might want to see about scheduling a doctor's appointment to be tested for it. All they do is draw some blood and a do a test checking to see if your thyroid is producing too much or too little.

Common characteristics of those who have hyperthyroidism is an incredibly high metabolism, fatigue, and random increased heart rate, like a heart-racing from a panic attack. The late dangerous stages of hyperthyroidism is when an individual starts having thyroid storms. A thyroid storm happens when the thyroid over produces way too much to the point that it is poisoning the body. The symptoms of a thyroid storm in addition to the normal hyperthyroid symptoms is dizziness, feeling incredibly hot for no apparent reason, nausea, and even throwing up from the nausea.

The treatment of hyperthyroidism is either through medication, swallowing a radioactive iodine tablet, or surgically having the thyroid gland removed. Treatment with medication is incredibly difficult, which the individual always has to regularly get a check-up by the doctor to see if the medication needs to be increased or decreased. That form of treatment is like a roller coaster. Treatment with a radioactive iodine tablet will kill the thyroid with radiation, which the individual can then be placed on medication with a regular dosage. This form of treatment doesn't always killed the thyroid the first attempt and is somewhat dangerous because the individual literally emits radiation for about four days, which they are usually kept locked up in a room to themselves for the time period. Treatment through surgery guarantees the thyroid is destroyed, which the individual can then be placed on medication with a regular dosage. This form of treatment has some risk associated with it in that, if the doctors slips up, it could result in paralysis or something of that nature.

I'm not trying to scare you. Just giving you the facts, which you should really see about getting checked out for hyperthyrodism. If come to find out you just have a high metabolism, that is great. However, it is best to be thorough to know for sure.

Do you know if hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism runs in your family?

Oh wow. I usually cut even, unless I'm obsessed with working on something then I tend to forget to eat while still doing the same amount of stuff I normally do.

I heard of a remedy where a teaspoon of honey in a cup of milk helps with weight gain, while a teaspoon of honey in a cup of warm water helps one lose weight. I don't know if that actually works, but it came to mind when I entered the topic.

Oh gosh, when I first starting buying honey, I used to add it to warm milk and drinking it made me feel so superb(weird word to describe this lol), like there was an instant elation once the honey hit the taste buds.

I remember reading this really long article with the bible associating honey and milk with abundance and things like that. For some reason, that stuck in my mind. I know there are a lot of homemade facial scrubs that I've tried using these(I like to be curious lol) and they're fantastic.... oi, derailment lol.

The further I read about it, the more it seems to point out that honey and milk is good for digestion and absorption of calcium as well as good skin(yay, good skin lol). Here's some stuff I found under the related searches. Hopefully, it's something you can use :].

Question
I seem to have the same difficulty putting on weight as others try to take it off them! Should I resort to drinking those weight gaining formulas, those that cost a lots of money and boast about their high protein content? Please advise thank you.

Answer
There is a number of things you can do if you do not wish to use nutritional supplements. First of all, you should evaluate your diet against the Healthy Diet Pyramid, select the higher number of servings and see if you are getting all the food you need. If you are low in any particular food, plan on including more from that food group ie. if you are low in fruits, have a fruit snack between meals or if you are low in vegetables, have an extra serving of vegetables at lunch or dinner.

Secondly, you should have 3 meals plus 3 snacks if you would like to gain weight. You will consume more calories that way.

Thirdly, you need to exercise if you want to gain weight as diet alone could cause weight gain, but the increase would be mostly body fat without the exercise component. Exercising (about 30 minutes per day three to five times per week) on a regular basis and your muscle size should increase. Weight lifting is effective to increase muscle size.

Use the following recipe if you would like to make your own high-protein drink.

HIGH PROTEIN, HIGH CALORIE SHAKE
Ingredients:
1 cup of full fat milk
3 tablespoons full-cream milk powder
2 scoops of ice cream
1 tbsp chocolate syrup, or 1/4 cup fruit
Honey or sugar to taste (optional)
Method:
Blend all items together in a blender to make a delicious shake.
A cup of shake provides about 400 calories per serving.

You need additional 550 calories per day to gain about 0.5 kg per week, this can come from drinking one shake plus extra food each day.
Actually, having three meals + three snacks daily is supposed to be better for nutrition overall. They teach this to diabetics to spread out meals and things like that so food is spread out evenly during the day to also prevent overeating.

The Pain of Weight Gain
I am very eager to gain weight and have been advised to drink honey and milk early in the morning and at bedtime. Will this help? Can you please advice me on how to put on weight and build a strong physique.
----------------

I am very aware that there is a group of you out there who are painfully thin and painfully trying to gain weight without much success. Believe me it is more difficult to gain than to lose weight. But we have been successful so here are some tips.

My first advise would be to have yourself dewormed. If you have not done this in the last 6 months do it tonight. You just have to swallow a single capsule at bedtime. The next step is to check if you are anemic. Examine your tongue, lips and fingernails to see if they are bright pink or reddish pink in colour . If it is pale, whitish pink then you may have to take an iron supplement for 3 months. You may consult your family physician on this matter.

Now for the diet. The first point to be understood is that we don't want to become fatter but we want to build up the muscles and tissues of our body so that we become stronger and feel and look healthier. This is not achieved by eating more and more fatty foods like large amounts of ghee and butter being added to all the meals. Also it is not advisable to indulge in ice cream and chocolates daily. This only increases the amount of fatty tissue in the body and pimples on the face.

On the other hand one has to become very aware of the nutrient content of foods and learn to combine them properly at every meal. For healthy muscle and tissue building one requires proper amounts of carbohydrate and protein rich foods. Carbohydrates are all starchy and sugary foods. The main source of carbohydrates should be whole cereals like whole wheat, corn, ragi, jowar, bajra and rice. Besides this vegetables and fruits also give us carbohydrates.

These are to be eaten in combination with protein foods. They are dhals and pulses (channa, rajma, moong, etc) nuts, milk and milk products-curd, cheese, paneer, eggs and chicken, fish and meats. Each meal should be a combination of cereal items and proteins foods e.g. bread and egg, bread and milk or bread and cheese. Wheat, oats or ragi porridge with milk or buttermilk. Cornflakes and milk. Stuffed roti with curd or a glass of milk. Only bread and butter or only bread and jam is wrong only roti and tomato chutney or roti and sabji (vegetable) is wrong.

Similarly idli and sugar is not as good as idli and sambar. Please guide children to make the right combinations so that they gain weight properly. For lunch and dinner only chapati and sabji or only lime rice or vegetable noodle is not right. The protein item is missing. Chapati and sabji must have dhal, or an egg or non-veg with it and some curd too if possible. Channa, rajma and moong or horse grams are good substitutes for dhals.

Those who carry packed lunches must make an effort to eat properly. Here is the ideal lunch or dinner. Half - one cup dhal, half -one cup vegetable, (palya/sabji) and 1-2 piece chicken or fish or 1 glass butter milk or curd and 1-2 cup rice or 3-4 chapati and 1 cup salad.

The last secret to weight gain is to increase all quantities at all meals or snacks regularly. e.g. If you now eat 3 slices bread start to eat 4 and build up to 5. If you now eat 1-cup rice try 1 and a half-cup and then 2. If you now eat 2 biscuits try to eat 4. You have to be very regular and consistent to see results. Never miss a meal! Do this for three months to gain 5 to 6 kgs.

Milk is very important for weight gain so try to have1 Cup on rising, 1C at teatime and one at bedtime. Also please ensure that you drink 8-10 glasses of water daily. Bananas, other fruits, raisins and dates may be eaten liberally, when ever possible.

Regular walking for 20-30 minutes a day improves circulation and stimulates appetite. Those working out in a gym must be careful not to over work themselves. Do not exceed 30-45 minutes workout.

There are parasite cleanses in the health food stores. Also there are some tablets specifically for human deworming. Ask the pharmacist and if you are to embarrassed to admit it is for you just say it is for your kids
