With the ongoing Occupation movement on Wall Street and the growing occupation movements going on around the US, this is just a reminder that some of us have been dealing with occupation for centuries now. Although we support the ideas behind Occupy Wall Street and the other Occupation movements we want those who have chosen to use the terminology of “Occupation” to be aware of the hidden and unrecognized history behind that word when it comes to non-white peoples.

yes so specially, i come from a part of population who has been maintained in poverty for 2 century, where execution and abusing jailing has been a constant for 150 year, and who finnally got almost genocided by franco and ussr backed republic in spain, and i know many ppl who come from other countries who have been under occupation and who had to flee away from their land for their home being taken over and burned down, and then put in disciplinary camps when they took refugee in france for that they shut up, and have been conditionned to shut up by the hard way as well as algerian today, so i'm quite aware of this kind of 'hidden and unrecognised history' that i'm part of

this protest has nothing indegenous, and i was close to a guy who has been laywer and lived for 7 years among iroqui defending their cause, what they are into has not really much to do with capitalism or wall street as an economic system, neiether about industry or modernity per se, it is indeed more of the question of the social and racist motivation that alwasy undermined the tenant of capitalism and their lack of tolerance and knowledge for every other civilisation, beyond the fact that they are more wealthy possed 4 cars and 8 iphone, it is not really the core of the issue here for the indegenous, neither it is the economical system in itself that is in cause here, even if it came with it and served their masters to their ob jective of eliminating all the opponent of the occidental civilisation

I don't really care about the Occupy Wall Street movement. I don't. If that offends anyone, I apologize for the offense, but I am only being candid. Right now, all it means to me is a new trend for mainstream to start giving a flying fudge monkey about politics and all that jazz.

I was talking about getting involved with my community and someone instantly links that with trying to get me into the Occupy whatever whatever in my area. That turned me off. What the hell were you doing before Occupy Wallstreet happened? Eff that ess, frustration, crap.

There is a lot of intolerance, frustration, and apathy about the Occupy and similar movements since it began. While they are not without their flaws, the intent remains good. Take a look at all of the negative changes around you: increased police power, political corruption running out of control, and world war ever nearing, then ask yourself what anyone is doing about it. Americans COULD remain in their apathetic, chair-prone states, or they can get out and voice their criticisms, whatever those might be, and yes some of them might join the Occupy Momvement. Take a look at the wave of revolution stirring about in the Middle East and elsewhere. And along the way, In the very least, you could say "look some Americans do actually give a shit about the world around them' and are starting to jump on board.

Drop the old energy/programming that is embedded in your psyche, for the sooner you do the easier the transition will be.

I don't disagree, the general intent of occupy and similar movements is good and they bring several valid points to the table. Thing is, sometimes the approach itself is counterproductive or people simply take it too far. Consider this, the U.S. has been fighting Terrorism (allegedly so anyways) for quite some time now ... the NDAA has been passed only months after the Occupy Movement was set in motion. The Act allows the gov to capture and retain American citizens if they can be linked to Terrorism in some way shape or form. Meanwhile, the definition of Terrorism becomes broader and broader ... protests can now be considered acts of terrorism if they speak out against the gov, for example.

Yes, but is the actual cause of unconstitutional mandates against protesting protesting itself? No, it is essentially a government run amok. Before the movement started to gain ground there were actions taking shape to clamp down on individual liberties (ref. indefinite detentions, censorship and new copyright laws, and of course before that the Patriot Act). Let's be honest, it is always the job of the government to protect the interests of the wealthy and those in power. The masses need to realize that security only comes in securing our own personal freedoms. The biggest enemies to security are war-mongering states and corrupt governments that never serve the people. What is afoot now is the end-game of empire. The old paradigm is starting to crumble. Left and right crooks are being identified for what they are, and though the common criminal may get 10 years for stealing a car while the white collar criminal still gets a slap on the wrist for stealing thousands of families life savings, the stables are starting to get restless.

I'm not saying we shouldn't speak up , quite the contrary actually ... I just think we need to be smart about it because everything appears to be in place to shut us up for good if needed.
